phallic cookies, organic wine and half a dozen heaving bosoms crammed into corsets
#hoes4history high tea was a resounding success !!!!

“There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea.” – Henry James
It’s been a MINUTE but I feel a strong need to squeal delightedly about my most recent event, the first ever #hoes4history high tea (!!) in collaboration with Adele Brydges, (the gorgeous gal I co-hosted dildo decorating with a few months ago) and Cat O’Brien, the mastermind behind her eponymous, sustainably focused, historically inspired fashion brand.
Working with Cat & Adele was an absolute dream, both women are such knowledgeable, generous, creative creatures 💛 what stood out to me the most was the fact that we all brought very different things to the table ~ Adele’s expertise in ceramics and pleasure, Cat’s knowledge of historical fashion, and my infatuation with all things ancient really came together to create a visual and intellectual FEAST that was both unique and memorable 🍰
We are hoping to host one or two (or eighteen) more so I don’t want to give too much away BUT I will say the afternoon whipped by in a sun-soaked, sensuous blur.
DEFY.WINE very kindly gifted us a selection of their chilled, organic wine and it was just beyond delicious. I got a bit carried away and made a little spritz station with mint leaves, rose petals and sparkling water which was just heavenly.
Speaking of me getting over-excited, I also felt the need to make cock-shaped-cookies as a little nod to ancient Greeks 😚😚😚
How the hell are cock-shaped cookies (or ~ cockies ~ as someone on Instagram cleverly suggested yesterday) related to the ancient world??? WELL I’M GLAD YOU ASKED.
Way back in the day (we’re talking three thousand years ago) the ancient Greeks celebrated the Thesmophoria, a fertility festival in honour of Demeter, the goddess of harvest and agriculture. The celebrants, all women, went temporarily celibate, swore profusely at each other, threw a bunch of piglets in an underground chamber (??) and, AND, carried a bunch of phallic bread, all with the aim of promoting fertility.
Check out the Hellenic Museum’s blog if you want to learn more: The Thesmophoria: Women's Ritual in the Ancient World.
I swapped the baguettes for cookies but other than THAT the phallic cookies were honestly more historically relevant than a bunch of the other bits and bobs I typically fling at event attendees.
So THAT is why I spent an hour carving dozens of wonky willies, all in the name of EDUCATION.
The main selling point of the whole event (other than the cockies ofc), was the creative, crafty aspect ✂️ Adele guided the group as we decorated our very own cup and saucer, offering themed, bespoke decals, and helping with composition, making sure each set would be fired perfectly, leaving our guests with their dream custom cup and saucer.
Cat also brought specially-made chokers and bonnets so of COURSE it descended into a saucy, Marie Antoinette dress-up situation 😮💨
Now it wouldn’t be high tea without some TEA (literal tea, settle down).
Aphroteasiacs (I mean that NAME), very kindly gifted us some of their decadent, rousing creations which you HAVE to check out here: studiosexus.com/aphroteasiacs 🫖🫖🫖
The whole event was just delicious from start to finish; we all feasted on sweet and savoury treats, concocted our refreshing, intoxicating spritzes and then finished with cups of Aphroteasiacs’ Silver Tip, their delicate blend of white jasmine and citrus. (I mean thank god for the tea in all seriousness because everyone was quite tipsy, drinking like FISH in the 30 degree heat).
#hoes4history high tea was just beyond words and I cannot WAIT to host another one :’) hugest thank you to Adele and Cat for bringing our delectable vision to life ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
My NEXT event will be in Paris (WHAT) on the 3rd of September, find all the details here: THE FÜDE DINNER EXPERIENCE: MUSE / MUSEUMS.
